Land Rover's Freelander was a two- or four-door compact SUV with a 4-cylinder or inline 6 engine and four-wheel drive. The Freelander was built for comfort as well as tough off-road capability, and was available in SE, SE3, HSE or S trim levels. The Freelander was replaced by the Discovery Sport in 2015.<-div>

If that's the case, all-season tires such as the Continental CrossContact LX Sport, Kumho Crugen Premium KL33, Falken Ziex CT60 A-S, or Toyo Versado Noir.<-div> <-div>

Land Rover has come a long way since the boxy, utilitarian Rover that was introduced in 1948. The LR2 (aka Freelander) was introduced in 1997 and was a tough but comfortable SUV, available in three-door or five-door form. The LR2 had the distinction of being the first unibody-construction vehicle from Land Rover, after a half-century of body-on-frame 4WD trucks. The LR2 received some criticism for not being as robust in its 4WD system as some previous Land Rover models; in fact, it was the first Rover model to be available with 2WD as an option. It made up for that in amenities, though, with an upgraded interior and optional 825-watt 17-speaker surround sound audio. LR2 models could also be ordered with a comprehensive cold-weather package that includes heated windshield washers, heated seats, and heated windshields. The LR2 was powered by either a 4-cylinder Ford engine or an inline-6 Volvo engine.
Here at FORTLUFT, we’ve gone through and put together some of the best tire options for your Land Rover LR2, including all-season, all-terrain, and winter tires. We then ranked them in Best-Great-Good order and assigned a numerical score for each in the categories of traction, longevity, and handling, using our SimpleScore system. Ready? Let’s go in for a closer look:
